The Baltic Sea is richer by one attraction that already warms the hearts of travelers.

It is a huge, heated hot water bottle that serves as seating for beachgoers and is charmingly named Wärmy. The innovative project aims to make the Baltic Sea appealing to vacationers even in the colder months, and here's how it works:

What is Wärmy?

Wärmy is installed in several locations and offers beach visitors a cozy retreat until spring. The oversized hot water bottle, which is being presented for the first time in Travemünde, will continue along the Baltic Sea coast until spring 2025. Wärmy is already a star, as her impressive size and warm interior are captivating everyone already.

The special thing about the heating pad is: It does not contain water but is heated to provide guests with a warming seating option. Wärmy becomes really cozy thanks to the foam, and the cover ensures a certain weather resistance when the storm howls and the rain lashes down. Travelers can rest on the several-meter-wide area while being warmed from below.

Where and when can you visit Wärmy?

After the launch in Travemünde at the beginning of October, the hot water bottle will be set up at other beaches in Schleswig-Holstein.

Heiligenhafen: October 25 to November 17, 2024

Eutin: November 22 to December 8, 2024

Plön: December 12 to December 22, 2024

Großenbrode: December 31, 2024 to January 12, 2025

· Travemünde: January 17 to February 2, 2025

Timmendorfer Strand: February 7 to February 17, 2025

Kellenhusen: February 21 to March 10, 2025

The project was initiated by various communities in the region and the Holstein Switzerland as a joint tourism project to make beach visits on the Baltic Sea cozy even in winter.

The "tour" of Wärmy aims to attract as many guests as possible and heat things up.
