Actually, you don't have to go far when planning an exciting city trip, because the good stuff is so close: In Germany, there are countless places with a cultural diversity that can hold its own in a global comparison. But which German city takes the number one spot? We will tell you!

Dresden is the leader...

... among the German cultural metropolises. The Saxon capital impresses with a remarkable blend of history, art, and a vibrant theater scene. With 51 museums housing a variety of art treasures and historical exhibitions, "Elbflorenz" offers its visitors plenty of cultural diversity.

Second place goes to...

Bonn: The former capital actually has a decent reputation, but the variety and high quality of cultural events and institutions here, including 27 museums and 30 theaters or operas, greatly contradict this image.

We award bronze...

... Stuttgart. The capital of the southwestern German state of Baden-Württemberg is not exactly cheap, but despite the high admission prices, the city impresses with a density of 63 theaters or operas and 55 museums.

Regarding image vs. reality: Tourism magnets like Berlin have only reached 8th place in terms of cultural diversity, Hamburg ranks 11th, and Munich can even be found in 15th place. Assessment*The number of facilities as well as the prices in the 20 largest cities in Germany were taken into account.

Duisburg comes in last place in the ranking. And here is the complete list of German cultural metropolises, where you're sure to find one or another city for your next city trip!
