For those who want to enjoy the Advent season also culinary, we recommend a trip through Alsace, where you can spend this contemplative time especially delicious and tasty!

Arrival and stay at the Nuremberg Christkindlesmarkt

Start at the most famous Christmas market in Germany, where the many scents of cinnamon and spices already whet the appetite for more: There is also plenty to indulge in here, such as the famous Nuremberg Elisen gingerbread, mulled wine, "Zwetschgermoh" – the little man made from plums, dates, and a walnut – and recently also the "Lebkugeln."

City tour and leisure in Strasbourg

On the second day of the trip, one can discover many Alsatian specialties in the beautiful Strasbourg, including at the "Christkindelsmärik," a Christmas market that has existed since 1570. In addition to chocolates, macarons, endless varieties of mustard, and black truffles, there is of course also traditional Christmas tree decorations and handicrafts to discover.

Flammekueche eating in Colmar

The old imperial city of Colmar invites you on the next travel day with its Christmas market set against the historic backdrop of the city: together with the medieval half-timbered houses, Advent here is of unique beauty. Be sure to enjoy Flammkuchen in a typical regional restaurant. The base of Flammkuchen is a very thin rolled-out dough made from bread. The traditional topping consists of raw onions, bacon, and a cream made from sour cream, lightly seasoned with salt and pepper. The flatbread topped this way is baked in the oven at high heat for a short time.

Tour of the Alsatian Wine Route with Wine Tasting

If you are in Alsace, you definitely shouldn't miss a tour along the Alsace Wine Route: During a wine tasting, you can also try the typical Alsatian gugelhupf ("Kougelhopf") and other delicious specialties of the region.

Pottery in Soufflenheim and Journey Home

Before you embark on your journey home, be sure to visit the picturesque town of Soufflenheim to see a typical pottery workshop of the region. You will surely find some lovely souvenirs here as Christmas gifts!
