History
The history of the Crown & Anchor dates back to the 19th century. Originally known as Central House, the property was built by Timothy P. Johnson to serve as a venue for the community. A saloon, a bowling alley, and accommodations made the Central House the largest hotel in town. In 1868, Allen Reed took over and elevated the establishment by adding dormitories and further expanding the hotel. Over time, the property underwent numerous changes and renovations before it was finally rebuilt in 1999 after a devastating fire.
