The jury praises that both travelers and residents benefit equally: "The Bautzen train station is a successful example of how new forms of use can revive a station building threatened by decay into a vibrant place for travelers and residents," says Dirk Flege, Managing Director of Allianz pro Schiene.

... is Sörup. Especially in rural areas, there is still much to be done regarding rail transport, but Sörup, as the best train station in the countryside for 2024, is setting a good example. The small rural train station is located on the railway line from Kiel to Flensburg and boasts a charming historic building that has been freshly renovated. The station surroundings have also been modernized and designed. There is a daily open ice cream café at the station with a cozy outdoor area near a supermarket and bakery, as well as Wi-Fi available for use. The jury states: "Here, the great commitment and strong will of the community have led to the rural train station in Sörup becoming a small but welcoming station for commuters and visitors, which is not a matter of course in rural areas." In addition to being a practical travel center, a place with a feel-good factor has now emerged here.
